Growing up in a God-fearing home, Colin was taught all things righteous, holiness, and modesty. Though he always believed in the sovereignty and power of God, his faith came into question as he grappled with his sexuality. “I never doubted the holy spirits power. Not when you’ve seen and experienced others and yourself be healed, set free, and delivered. But as I grew into myself, the constant narrative by other believers that I wasn’t made in God’s perfect design, left me broken, and questioning.”
“ I get a laugh when people try to shame my freedom with the veil of ‘God hates what you’re doing’. I think the opposite. This is how I was originally created. Once you get back into divine alignment, the shame, the stigma, the embarrassment, it all falls off. ”
“ I spent many years pushing back against that pain, expressing myself through imagery. I tried stripping myself literally and figuratively, to escape the shame that had been placed upon me my entire life. Little did I know, that the shame didn’t just come from the church, but outsiders and many from the world also wouldn’t understand. I never told or explained to anyone what I was doing. I just did it. It felt like I went through another season of betrayal when I expressed myself in that way. Most thought I was going through a vain, self-righteous, promiscuous phase, when mostly, it came from a place of shame, yet I experienced more. “
“Others insecurities, opinions, projections and fears are not mine to carry. I’ve spent my entire life working to break free from my own.”
“ There’s something about nature + nudity. The way God intended it to be. ”
“ Though there was many naysayers, there was also many many supporters. I’ll forever be grateful for them. I found an audience, and many not only supported, but were willing to pay for my work. Those who it was meant for, got it, and wanted more. Over the years my confidence grew, and my shame turned into strength, my fear into triumph. Looking to turn lemons into lemonade, I spun the personal battle into a platform for others to hopefully feel seen, express themselves, and live boldly in their skin. Nudity is often looked as shameful, or something to be embarrassed of. If you’re nude, you must be dumb or worthless, have low-self esteem, attention seeking, classless, the list goes on. I’ve heard it all. I want to reject, change, and flip that narrative upside down. I can do many things, and being comfortable in my body is just one of them. ”
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:14
